How it works
What Does Recording Connection Do?
Recording Connection pairs aspiring music producers and audio engineers with experienced mentors who have worked on projects for some of the biggest names in the industry. Our mentors come from a wide range of backgrounds in both music production and audio engineering — from mixing engineers to mastering engineers — so you can be sure that whatever your interest is, we will find an appropriate mentor. Not only will they teach you their craft, but they may also introduce you to their network of contacts in the industry. This makes it easier for you to land gigs once you have completed our program.
We will submit your music to labels or get you a job in a studio or as a creator.

The Recording Connection offers something no “name” 4-year university or audio engineering and music production trade school can. From day one, you’ll be placed in a professional recording studio and receive one-on-one mentoring from award-winning producers and engineers.
With more than 200 locations throughout 48 states, you won’t have to travel thousands of miles for this immersive experience. You learn what it takes to make it in the music business from the inside alongside industry professionals. This includes recording, mixing and mastering, hardware and software, live sound design, and even business skills.
The cities of Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo are located along California’s south-central coastline, on a 100-mile stretch of Highway 101. Although this area is shadowed by the huge music scene of L.A. a short drive south, the Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-San Luis Obispo area still has a solid musical presence, with plenty of live venues and recording studios to service the needs of the area. This area has also been home to a number of notable bands and artists, not the least of which are Jon Anderson (lead singer of Yes), Peter Buck (guitarist for R.E.M.), indie rock band Watashi Wa, rock band Toad the Wet Sprocket, and pop superstar Katy Perry, just to name a few. If you’re considering a career in audio as a recording engineer, live audio engineer or music producer, the Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-San Luis Obispo area has plenty of learning opportunities, and is close enough to the Los Angeles area that it can provide a quieter alternative to living there.

Recording Connection does a GREAT job at placing you into REAL studios with REAL engineers and opens the door to allow you to create those connections with your mentor, and continual learning. You truly get out of the program what you put in. Another great aspect of the program are the virtual advisors that can help you with question regarding Pro Tools and other material as well. I was very fortunate to have landed in Recording Connection, they helped me out since day one with my registration, and any paperwork needed. I was placed at ES Audio Studios in Glendale, CA. My mentor at the studio, Donny B. is very knowledgeable. He helped me through the process since the beginning. He helped me pick a great laptop suitable for Engineers. I had no clue of the existence of any DAW's, and after a few months of spending time at the studio, asking questions, getting a hands on experience, and doing colabs with other students/engineers I now have the privilege to be a professional.
