Audio and Music Production School in Portland, Oregon

Not like any other school, this is Audio Education Updated, Reimagined, and Revitalized. Are You Ready to Take Your Place?

We took that old stale classroom concept, rebuilt and upgraded it by putting your classroom in a professional recording studio. Then we emptied out all the other students and left only YOU and YOUR TEACHER (yay for one-on-one learning!) who happens to be a pro music producer (with killer credits) to train you privately (at your pace, full time, part time, nights or weekends available).

Your Journey starts here. Amplify your Life and go to the next Level.

How it works

Your Portland, Oregon MUSIC RECORDING SCHOOL ALTERNATIVE

We hit different and here is why:

Although the unofficial slogan of the city is “Keep Portland Weird,” there’s nothing odd about the love of music they have in the Rose City. There are some truly legendary venues in the largest city in Oregon State, as well as some lesser-known, more intimate locales. As one of the main stopping points for touring acts along the West Coast, there is also a wide range of PORTLAND AUDIO ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION SCHOOLS.

But what better way to learn your way around a sound console, digital audio workstation, and sound room than inside a real-world, fully operational recording studio? That’s what the PORTLAND RECORDING CONNECTION is all about. There may be a time and place for classroom learning in more traditional industries, but the music business isn’t what you’d call traditional.

Instead of instructors looking to get tenure, we’ll place you with a PRO MUSIC PRODUCER looking to make local, regional, and national acts sound that much better. Instead of vying for facetime with that instructor, you’ll get one-on-one attention from your mentor. Instead of waiting your turn to get your hands on whatever gear a four-year university or trade school has, Recording Connection mentors have actual industry standard gear and they use it to capture and make great sounding music, day-in, day-out.

But we’re not done flipping the script on what a traditional education looks like. Instead of forcing you to follow a standard schedule, Recording Connection’s Academic Facilitators and mentors work with you to set a routine that works with your life. We understand that you may have job or family commitments that make attendance during the day a little more difficult.

Lucky for you, the music industry doesn’t run on a traditional timetable. Nor does it run on prerequisites, GPAs, and or a set amount of education academics think you need. Our mentors work to expand on the knowledge you have, improve the skills you lack, and show you what it takes to make a career in the music industry your living reality.

And we won’t force you into a six-figure financial hole or make you commit to four years either. Our programs cost a fraction of traditional “name” universities and take anywhere from six to nine months to complete.

Like was said at the top, Portland is anything but “standard” or “traditional.” Maybe that’s why we feel Recording Connection is such a great fit in Rip City.

We will submit your music to labels or get you a job in a studio or as a creator.

CLOSE TO HOME OR IN YOUR HOME

10 Miles, 10 Blocks, or 10 Seconds away from your future

With Recording Connection mentors located in Portland, there’s no need for you to uproot your life and head up to Seattle or down to Los Angeles. And with plenty of up-and-coming talent, as well as touring regional and national acts, there’s never a shortage of clients looking to clean up a track or begin working on something new.

But as 2020 showed us, it’s not always possible to head down to the studio at the last second to meet with your mentor. Or the gym, the movie theater, or live music venue. And while many educational institutions were left scratching their heads when it came to giving students access, Recording Connection was well-positioned to keep the music flowing.

During the past couple of decades, we introduced and perfected remote learning for hopeful audio engineers and music producers. By establishing a curriculum that could be followed alongside your mentor as well as from home, the Covid-19 lockdown did little to restrict student access.

Even when there isn’t a pandemic forcing self-quarantines or social distancing, our remote learning means you aren’t limited to Portland mentors. With more than 250 locations around the United States and Canada, learning from a mentor that speaks to your soul through his or her work is only limited by the power, storage space, and speed of your computer and the reliability of your wifi.

If you've been looking for a way to drastically increase your skill and knowledge of audio engineering then RRFC should be at the top of your list. RRFC has transformed who i am as an engineer, and how i approach music as a whole.

Yes, we have over 4000 positive reviews. Our students value the impact our programs have on their future. You learn from the best.

Recording Connection does a GREAT job at placing you into REAL studios with REAL engineers and opens the door to allow you to create those connections with your mentor, and continual learning. You truly get out of the program what you put in. Another great aspect of the program are the virtual advisors that can help you with question regarding Pro Tools and other material as well. Much props to Alex Solis for helping me through the program!

After being a musician for a couple of years, I've decided to take my music skills to the next level. I was very fortunate to have landed in Recording Connection, they helped me out since day one with my registration, and any paperwork needed. I was placed at ES Audio Studios in Glendale, CA. My mentor at the studio, Donny B. is very knowledgeable. He helped me through the process since the beginning. He helped me pick a great laptop suitable for Engineers. I had no clue of the existence of any DAW's, and after a few months of spending time at the studio, asking questions, getting a hands on experience, and doing colabs with other students/engineers I now have the privilege to be a professional. A huge thank you, to all who helped answer my questions and helped me grow as a professional engineer.

I had a very good experience with Recording Connection and my mentor Donny Baker from ES Audio Recording Studios. He taught me the things that I need to know about being an engineer/producer and to always be prepared for the gig and to keep the gig as well. I learned a lot from my mentor, other students that are more experienced, my Academic Facilitator Jon, and other engineers that worked there. I thank everybody that has helped me through this journey and will use the advice that has been given to me to improve as an engineer.
