Apprenticeships vs Online Learning In The Music Business

While there is value in online learning, at Recording Connection we don’t believe it’s the best way to learn. When it comes to learning music production, audio engineering, hip hop production, electronic music production, how to DJ, and a slew of other related careers, we think hands-on with the gear and a trusted mentor is better than taking online tutorials.

Classroom learning and online learning may be appropriate for certain subjects but for building music business smarts and studio skills, we think learning by training directly with a professional in the studio environment near to where you live just makes a lot more sense and is more effective. You’ll learn from an industry professional in private sessions and receive Career Services job assistance for one year after graduation. With our in-industry externship approach and blended education model, you will complete industry oriented coursework online in-tandem with completing an externship at a recording studio in your area. With our approach to audio and music education, you can ask all the questions you want, go at your own pace, touch the gear, and meet and make other industry connections. All great stuff and, in our opinion, the essential stuff you need if you want to get working and make it in the music business. That’s something classroom learning just can’t offer. And while online music training definitely has its place, but on its own it’s not enough if you want to make it in the music business.

Get your music production certification and build your music production and audio engineering skills by learning with an industry professional near you.
