Aspiring Set Designer Madi Erion Connects in L.A!
Recent Film Connection graduate, Madi Erion, who apprenticed with MediaFX in Portland, Oregon got a taste of what the inner world of set-design looks like when she came to Los Angeles and had the rare opportunity to pal around and tour Hollywood’s prop houses and WB backlot with Jeff Kushon, set designer for Showtime’s hit show, Dexter and a slew of box-office smashes.
Madi, herself an aspiring set designer, also had the chance to get some practice in by tagging props. Along the way she got to talk with the show’s director and production designers.
Madi Erion has this to say about her experience:
So here we are at the end of the week and the last night in L.A. It has been great! Very eye-opening and I’m sad to leave. I want to thank you and everyone at the Film Connection for this AMAZING opportunity. I will be in touch with you as my script/story further develops… Hopefully I will be back in LA soon… And to stay! Since taking this trip I really feel like I belong in the art department, like it’s where I’m supposed to go. And with this trip it’s becoming more realistic the possibility of me actually achieving becoming a production designer or art director. Thank you again.”
