RRF SUPPORTS JOEL SCHUMACHER AND THE ENDOMETRIOSIS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA

The Recording Radio and Film Connection is proud to announce our continued support of local and national charity organizations. Our programs have endeavored to support those seeking to better themselves in an effort to empower young men and women through quality education. RRF is happy to announce our partnering with accomplished filmmaker and director Joel Schumacher to donate to The Endometriosis Foundation of America. This group aims to increase disease recognition, provide advocacy, facilitate expert surgical training, and fund landmark endometriosis research. The EFA places particular emphasis on the importance of early diagnosis and effective intervention of this condition. They are also engaged in a campaign to inform both the medical community and the public for the education of the next generation of medical professionals and patients. We in the Recording Radio and Film Connection are happy to join this fight and call on others to aid us in this cause.

Endometriosis is a gynecological condition which cause the cells from the lining of the uterus to appear, then flourish outside the uterine cavity and also on the ovaries. The uterine cavity is lined by endometrial cells, which are under the influence of female hormones. These cells, in areas outside the uterus (endometriosis), are influenced by hormonal changes and respond in a way that is similar to the cells found inside the uterus. Endometriosis is typically experienced during the reproductive years and has been estimated to occur in roughly 6–10% of women. Symptoms may depend on the site of endometriosis but its main (but not universal) symptom are various forms of pelvic pain. It is also a common finding in women with infertility. Research has demonstrated a connection between endometriosis and certain types of cancers as well as autoimmune disorders. While there is no cure for endometriosis, in most only menopause will abate the condition. In patients in their reproductive years, endometriosis can only be managed with the goal to provide pain relief, restrict progression of the process and restore fertility. In general, the diagnosis is confirmed during surgery.

The Recording Radio and Film Connections are honored to be included in the fight against endometriosis. With Mr. Schumacher and supports like Tyra Banks, Susan Surandon and Padma Lakshmi hope to raise awareness for endometriosis within the thousands of cities our programs are apart of. We seek to help our students recognize the potential for this condition within themselves, their parents, wives, and sisters just as we do for members of our administration staff and mentors.
