DOWNTEMPO / TRIP HOP

Learn Down Tempo / Trip Hop Music Producing with the Recording Connection:

Are you into complex grooves and beats, or do you prefer less intense movements you can chill to? If you like ambient electronic music but with an infectious beat or groove, then you’re most likely a fan of downtempo (or its derivative, trip-hop). Downtempo has its origins in Ibiza, Spain, where it helped clubbers wind down after a hard day’s night of partying, helping them get ready to face the new day.

To understand how to make downtempo music that will fulfill you and move millions, you must first understand the art and science of your personal computer, synthesizers, organs, brass, strings, percussion, and keyboards. The Recording Connection is now accepting applications for downtempo and trip-hop externships.

Are you ready to make music like some of your inspirations, including Zero 7, Thievery Corporation, Air, Moby, Kruder & Dorfmeister, St. Germain, Portishead, Boozoo Bagou, or Lemon Jelly? The Recording Connection externship program is the school that puts you in the room with an established downtempo/trip-hop electronic artist. He/she will teach you how to use Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Cubase and Reason so you too can create your own unique downtempo/trip-hop sound.
