Chances are if you are reading this, you have been influenced by one of the most popular genres of electronic music, the genre of trance. Trance has its origins in house, chill out and acid house. Typically the performer or artist will use synthesizers, samplers, keyboards, and Roland TR-909s in the production of trance.

Trance music usually employs a 4/4 time signature, but is somewhat faster than house music. Arpeggios and minor keys are often used. Like pop music, trance often centers on a melody or a hook which is heard throughout the song. Trance music is also noted for its intros (called mix ins and its outros (called mix outs). This style can be broken down into hundreds of subgenres that include hard trance, acid trance, uplifting trance, euro trance and many more.
