How The Recording Connection is Different

Whether you’re just finishing high school or looking to start a new career in the music industry, conventional wisdom says you need to go to a four-year university or trade school, compete with a classroom full of other students for the teacher’s attention, and carry a bunch of student loans. And maybe you’ll get to work the gear during lab time and when you’re done you’ll get a diploma to frame.

The Albuquerque Recording Connection has a better way. We offer audio engineering and music production programs that last six to nine months at a fraction of the cost. Instead of a teacher who used to make music, you’ll work with an engineer or producer in their professional studio, working on state-of-the-art gear, and getting immediate feedback on your work and answers to your questions.

We hit different and here is why:

There’s no doubt that many “traditional” careers require a certain way of learning. Spend four years at university, earn a degree, and enter the workforce with that piece of paper. Some professions require exams even outside of school or additional years in a classroom before you’re deemed ready to ply your trade or practice your craft.

We just don’t feel the music industry is necessarily “traditional,” though. That’s why we created Recording Connection. We get students out of the classroom and into the recording studio. While there are still required reading, exams, and finals, we feel getting your hands dirty from the start is the best way to learn AUDIO ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION IN ALBUQUERQUE.

That’s why we pair you with a PRO MUSIC PRODUCER inside a PROFESSIONAL ALBUQUERQUE RECORDING STUDIO, learning the ins and outs of how music is made in today’s world. There are no prerequisite classes to take and no predetermined schedules to choose from. Along with an Academic Facilitator, you and your mentor will craft a curriculum that best fits your needs.

There are standard elements everyone in the industry should know of course, such as the physics of sound, music theory, and other hard and fast rules of course. But your mentor will fine-tune the experience to fit your career goals, help you build a portfolio, and assist in creating your brand.

But you really have to want it. This is not a hobby to our mentors, real word ALBUQUERQUE MUSIC PRODUCERS. This is their profession and it could be yours, too. We’ll give you a foundation, but you’ll have to take the initiative. You begin to learn when to ask for help, when your mentor needs your help, and when an artist expects your help.

In the music industry, who you know matters almost as much as what you know. That’s why getting you in front of industry professionals ASAP is so important. It’s one thing to read about how an analog recorder works, it’s something else entirely to use one during a live session.

Don’t Go Into Debt to Pursue Your Dreams

Unless you were born with the natural ability to make sick beats or produce platinum albums (hey, it happens), it makes sense to upgrade your skills through continuing education. What doesn’t make sense is going into debt for $50,000 (or more). The Albuquerque Recording Connection will give you a world-class education for a fraction of the cost.

And there are costs beyond tuition, especially if you need to move hundreds of miles away to attend a “name” university. With more than 300 locations across the United States, Recording Connection wants to make learning audio engineering or music production more accessible. You can stay home, keep your job, and take care of your life while getting the education you need to start a career.

10 Miles, 10 Blocks, or 10 Seconds away from your future

Although there’s definitely a Southwestern flavor when it comes to music from the area, there are plenty of ALBUQUERQUE AUDIO ENGINEERING SCHOOLS to choose from to learn Tejano, rock, jazz, pop, hip hop, and orchestral genres. But how many bring you into the studio while you stay at home?

As Covid protocols introduced us to such terms as personal quarantines and social distancing, many educational facilities were forced to shut their doors while creating solutions for their students. Recording Connection never missed a beat. We’ve been offering remote learning options for decades. All our students need are a strong enough computer and reliable internet access.

Recording Connection remote learning also lets you reach outside of the Albuquerque area to find a mentor you want to work with. We have more than 250 locations throughout the United States, which means you have access to more than 250 mentors. While learning inside the studio certainly gives you a unique perspective, you’ll still get the same education via our remote learning programs.

An immersive Albuquerque audio engineering and music production program

With Recording Connection, every day is a lab day. Learning from inside a professional studio, your mentor will show you how to work the gear that’s used by industry insiders around the world. Our mentors have won Grammys, produced platinum-selling albums, and worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. These are the people you’ll be getting an education from.

And they have connections, not to mention potential openings at their studio. Many of our students go on to work with their mentors after completing their program or move on to other studios based on the good word of their mentors. Our most successful students learn so much about the business they’re able to start their own studios!

But it starts with you. Do you have the drive, the responsibility, and the right attitude to make music your life? The Albuquerque Recording Connection is not for weekend warriors or those looking for a hobby. This is real life–and making music could be your life. Get started today.

The Alburquerque Recording Connection mentors are perfect examples of what makes music producers great: they work in several different mediums, know how to work with individuals as well as corporations, and have enough experience to know the difference between solid gear and passing fads.

The Recording Connection mentors have won numerous advertising awards for their music production, working with both local and national brands. Working with the History Channel and the Discovery Channel, our mentors have also produced works for Tina Fey, Will Forte, Christopher Lee, Danny Glover, Marsha Harden, Jodie Foster, and Donald Sutherland right along with creating their own music.

They offer a full service recording facility and can deliver sound in any modern file format, and even do transfers of many older formats to digital. Their gear includes Sony/MCI 24trk analog recorder 16 Trk i/2 inch Fostex, 8trk ¼ inch Fostex, 2trk ¼ inch Tascam, Alesis Adat, and Tascam D-88. They are also accomplished musicians themselves. Our mentors work out of two studios in Albuquerque, giving their students even more access.

Work with the Stars or Amplify Your Sound

We feel our method of learning audio engineering and music production makes more sense than other options. We’re biased of course, but there’s one thing we offer that just can’t be debated: Opportunity. Your mentor is a working professional in the business, and you’ll be learning inside a real-world recording studio.

This means you’ll be part of the music-making experience from the start. Working with real clients, working with a real producer, and working with others that are already on the inside. Whether it’s setting up the mics, assisting with a client, or taking over a session, you can start making a name for yourself right now!

It’s almost as if every day becomes a new interview, a new day to add to your resume, a new day to impress a potential boss or client. While we don’t guarantee job placement, thousands of our students have gone on to work with their mentors, found jobs at other studios, or just started their own studios after building up their network during the program.

But they all had something in common: drive, determination, and the ability to make themselves indispensable. What kind of impression will you make?
