Audio and Music Production School in Honolulu, Hawaii

Not like any other school, this is Audio Education Updated, Reimagined, and Revitalized. Are You Ready to Take Your Place?

We took that old stale classroom concept, rebuilt and upgraded it by putting your classroom in a professional recording studio. Then we emptied out all the other students and left only YOU and YOUR TEACHER (yay for one-on-one learning!) who happens to be a pro music producer (with killer credits) to train you privately (at your pace, full time, part time, nights or weekends available).

We hit different and here is why:

There are many professions that require a certain amount of time in the classroom – and with good reason! Before getting your hands dirty as a heart surgeon, it’s probably a good idea to crack a book or two. When it comes to making music, however, we believe the sooner you can get into the studio the better.

That’s why we place you in a fully immersive environment during the first week. You’ll receive one-on-one mentoring from a PRO MUSIC PRODUCER from inside their PROFESSIONAL RECORDING STUDIO, soaking up as much as you can about making music in today’s world.

We believe throwing you in the mix from the start jump-starts the learning process and gets you the information you want much quicker. The HONOLULU RECORDING CONNECTION doesn’t require prerequisites or make you sign up for classes you don’t want, either. Working with an Academic Facilitator and your mentor, you’ll craft a curriculum based on your strengths while giving you an overall foundation in audio and music production.

Recording Connection understands real life can get in the way of an education, any education. So we just removed that obstacle – along with setting the curriculum, you’ll also have a say in your schedule. You have bills to pay so we won’t make you quit your day job. Fortunately, the music industry runs 24/7, 365 days a year. Together, we’ll find a time that works for you and your mentor.

Our costs – both time and money – are lower than those of traditional four-year universities, too. Our AUDIO ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION SCHOOL runs for six to nine months and will run you just a fraction of those name schools. Our mentors are all too happy to get the next generation of music producers up and running.

But how fast you run is up to you. We get it – walking into a professional recording studio for the first time can be pretty overwhelming. But now is not the time to pull out your phone and start taking pictures (save that for when you’re building your brand on social media). Remember, your mentor is here to teach but also work, secure clients, and run a studio.

Who knows? After a year, you may be doing the same thing. But it all comes down to how hard you work during that year. Are you ready to amplify your life?

CLOSE TO HOME OR IN YOUR HOME

10 Miles, 10 Blocks, or 10 Seconds away from your future

Based on Oahu island, in the largest city of the Hawaiian cities, Recording Connection wanted to be able to reach the largest number of people in the state. And while anyone in the Aloha State can enroll in our Audio Engineering and Music Production Programs, we realize commuting from one island to another can make for a difficult commute.

After all, needing a plane or a boat to get to school isn’t necessarily a “traditional” way of getting to school. But Recording Connection, and the music industry as a whole, is hardly traditional. We’ve been offering remote learning for decades, giving students the ability to get the same one-on-one in-studio instruction with their mentor.

It also allows Hawaiians to look for mentors on the mainland, too. We have more than 250 locations throughout the U.S. With remote learning, you get access to any one of them. Los Angeles, New York, Miami, or Chicago – none of these mentors out of reach when you’re enrolled with the Recording Connection.

Featured Honolulu Music Production Mentors on Location or Remote

The Recording Connection offers something no “name” 4-year university or audio engineering and music production trade school can. From day one, you’ll be placed in a professional recording studio and receive one-on-one mentoring from award-winning producers and engineers.

With more than 200 locations throughout 48 states, you won’t have to travel thousands of miles for this immersive experience. You learn what it takes to make it in the music business from the inside alongside industry professionals. This includes recording, mixing and mastering, hardware and software, live sound design, and even business skills.

With a large studio, ISO booth, and lounge area for decompression, the Hawaiian Recording Connection mentor has everything you need to learn how to make today’s music. For more than 20 years, the studio has been working with some of the biggest names in the industry: Neil Young, Barry Manilow, Lil Wayne, REO Speedwagon, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Wayne Brady, Kanye West, and even Don Ho.

Because Honolulu is one of the top filming locations in the world, our mentors have also done a lot of work for TV, movies, and other media. Lost, Hawaii Five-0, Lilo & Stitch, Zombieland, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and even the Scarface video game. Solo acts, orchestras, and major entertainment work have all come through our Honolulu location.

In order to handle so many different music styles and commercial projects, you better believe our mentors have the gear to get the job done. Sony digital and analog recorders, a ProTools HD With Apogee 16x converters digital audio workstation, and a wide range of mics and monitors to capture and listen to the music being produced. A Yamaha grand piano, Sonar drum set, and Zildjian cymbals lead the list of available studio instruments.

WHAT WE OFFER

Work with the Stars or Amplify Your Sound

Located on the southeast side of Oahu, Honolulu is Hawaii’s state capital and largest city. Bands both local and national frequent Honolulu’s venues large and small and you can find live music somewhere in Honolulu virtually any night of the week. Finding a Honolulu audio engineering school to sharpen skills isn’t a problem – but how many give you the chance to work with potential employers and paying clients while class is in session?

The Honolulu Recording Connection gives you something that you can’t put a price on: Opportunity. Every day you’ll be working with a mentor who may be looking for help. Every act that comes through the studio doors has the potential to be a potential client. In this industry, who you know is just as important as what you know and good word of mouth is worth its weight in gold (or platinum).

Thousands upon thousands of graduates have found work after their programs have been completed, either in the studios they learned in, with other studios, or by securing enough clients to open their own studios. We can’t guarantee a job when you complete our audio engineering & music production program. But we do offer up to one year of job placement services.

The key is to make the most of your opportunities. Our successful graduates have made themselves indispensable, put in the work outside of the studio finding clients and honing their skills, and made it impossible not to put them on the payroll. What will you do with your opportunities?
