The Recording Connection offers something no “name” 4-year university or audio engineering and music production trade school can. From day one, you’ll be placed in a professional recording studio and receive one-on-one mentoring from award-winning producers and engineers.
With more than 200 locations throughout 48 states, you won’t have to travel thousands of miles for this immersive experience. You learn what it takes to make it in the music business from the inside alongside industry professionals. This includes recording, mixing and mastering, hardware and software, live sound design, and even business skills.
With a large studio, ISO booth, and lounge area for decompression, the Hawaiian Recording Connection mentor has everything you need to learn how to make today’s music. For more than 20 years, the studio has been working with some of the biggest names in the industry: Neil Young, Barry Manilow, Lil Wayne, REO Speedwagon, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Wayne Brady, Kanye West, and even Don Ho.
Because Honolulu is one of the top filming locations in the world, our mentors have also done a lot of work for TV, movies, and other media. Lost, Hawaii Five-0, Lilo & Stitch, Zombieland, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and even the Scarface video game. Solo acts, orchestras, and major entertainment work have all come through our Honolulu location.
In order to handle so many different music styles and commercial projects, you better believe our mentors have the gear to get the job done. Sony digital and analog recorders, a ProTools HD With Apogee 16x converters digital audio workstation, and a wide range of mics and monitors to capture and listen to the music being produced. A Yamaha grand piano, Sonar drum set, and Zildjian cymbals lead the list of available studio instruments.
