Audio and Music Production School in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Not like any other school, this is Audio Education Updated, Reimagined, and Revitalized. Are You Ready to Take Your Place?

We took that old stale classroom concept, rebuilt and upgraded it by putting your classroom in a professional recording studio. Then we emptied out all the other students and left only YOU and YOUR TEACHER (yay for one-on-one learning!) who happens to be a pro music producer (with killer credits) to train you privately (at your pace, full time, part time, nights or weekends available).

Your Virginia Minneapolis, Minnesota MUSIC RECORDING SCHOOL ALTERNATIVE

We hit different and here is why:

While there are several MINNESOTA AUDIO ENGINEERING SCHOOLS from which to choose, there is only one that gets you inside an actual Minneapolis-St. Paul recording studio. You’ll work as an audio student extern as you learn audio engineering, mixing, music production, live audio, electronic music, post-production, and more.

But we won’t make you take prerequisite classes, make you show up to class at 8 a.m. on a Monday morning, nor make you fight for the attention of the teacher. You’ll work one-on-one with a professional audio engineer or music producer inside a real-world recording studio.

Working with an Academic Facilitator, you’ll have a say in what your schedule looks like. After all, the recording industry doesn’t follow a 9-to-5 workday. Our mentors have been known to work late into the night and into the early morning. For artists, inspiration doesn’t hit during tidy eight-hour windows.

You’ll also help set your curriculum. If you’re already proficient in Ableton Live or Pro Tools, there’s really no need to take it from the top, right? Knowing that information at the start will help your mentor modify the syllabus so that it’s suited to your needs. Just try doing that at a traditional four-year university! Recording Connection also costs a fraction of what those “name” schools charge.

Speaking of “years,” Recording Connection programs last either six or nine months. In less than a year, you could already be making money after completing one of our programs. Of course, we can’t guarantee you’ll have a job waiting for you after you’ve finished your course. However, all program graduates get one year of career counseling to help you on your way.

Accelerated timelines. Custom-made class descriptions and schedules. Working elbow to elbow with a professional, learning about the industry from the inside. Yes, there is required reading, quizzes, and exams – this is an educational institution after all. But everything else is tailored around you.

Are you ready to amplify your life?

CLOSE TO HOME OR IN YOUR HOME

10 Miles, 10 Blocks, or 10 Seconds away from your future

Serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Recording Connection programs are ideal if you’re living in Minnetonka or near the University, from Shingle Creek to Morris Park, and Bryn-Mahr to Longfellow. With other locations throughout Minnesota, Recording Connection offers plenty of access for you to follow your audio engineering interests.

But we understand “life” happens. Even when there isn’t a worldwide pandemic, family commitments and other obstacles can make a daily commute almost impossible. Recording Connection has been offering remote learning options for students who can’t make it into the studio for whatever reason – including self quarantines and social distancing.

This also means you have the ability to work with music producers throughout the United States. We have more than 250 mentors working with us, meaning you could be living in Minneapolis but working with someone in L.A., New York, or Miami. We want to make your musical journey as accessible as possible.

WHAT WE OFFER

Work with the Stars or Amplify Your Sound

Even with the envious mixture of talent, determination, and responsibility, it can be hard to break into the music business. And while you might think the location makes all the difference, who you know is much more important. After all, Prince became a worldwide phenomenon growing up in Minneapolis.

Of course, Prince had a lot more going on for himself, too. His innate abilities aside, both of his parents had worked in the industry. The connections available to young Prince Rogers Nelson were invaluable. And that’s what Recording Connection offers students in our audio engineering and music production programs: the ability to network on an almost daily basis.

You’ll be working one-on-one with a pro music producer, learning how music is made in today’s world. With a stream of paying clients coming through the studio doors, every session is a chance to prove your worth. Even at the start, how you handle yourself in the studio during a recording will be remembered.

It basically comes down to what kind of impression you want to make. Do you take cues from your mentor, anticipate the needs of a client, act with confidence when you’re finally given the chance to sit in? Everyone you interact with in the studio will make a mental note of some sort after meeting you. How do you want to be remembered?

Many of our graduates have been hired by their mentors right after completing the program. Others have gone on to find work in other studios based on positive word of mouth while some graduates worked so well with clients they were able to start their own studios with a ready-made list of relationships.
