Audio and Music Production School in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Not like any other school, this is Audio Education Updated, Reimagined, and Revitalized. Are You Ready to Take Your Place?

We took that old stale classroom concept, rebuilt and upgraded it by putting your classroom in a professional recording studio. Then we emptied out all the other students and left only YOU and YOUR TEACHER (yay for one-on-one learning!) who happens to be a pro music producer (with killer credits) to train you privately (at your pace, full time, part time, nights or weekends available).

Your Montreal, Canada MUSIC RECORDING SCHOOL

We hit different and here is why:

More than 30 years ago, the Recording Connection decided to offer a new way to teach audio engineering and music production. We felt students were spending too much time and too much money without getting a true understanding of how the music industry really works.

Would you rather learn from an instructor in a classroom or from a PRO MUSIC PRODUCER inside a real-world recording studio? Get one on one attention throughout the program or jockey with other students for time with the teacher? Work every day with gear used by professional audio engineers and music producers or wait until it’s your “lab time?”

Learning at university is a standard for many professions – but working in music as one’s profession is anything but standard. Sure, there are still required readings, homework, and exams. This isn’t playtime after all. You need to work hard. With us, you’ll just be working hard inside a MONTREAL RECORDING STUDIO instead of a classroom.

Instead of working with other students, you’ll be working with clients. Smaller local bands, regional acts, or even touring stars known throughout the world work with Recording Connection mentors. Everyone you come into contact with is making a living in the industry. You’ll be learning first hand what working in music looks like.

This is real-life stuff we’re talking about. But we also understand you have a real-life outside of the studio, too. Your Academic Facilitator works with you to set up a schedule that fits with what you have going on. Universities set your schedule. The Recording Connection leaves it up to you.

But you’re still required to work. Showing up late to the classroom may get disapproving looks from your teacher. Showing up late for a session with a client will cost you a job in the real world. Showing up on time, doing the work, and acting responsibly is the only way to take full advantage of our programs.

We feel we offer a better way to learn about audio engineering and music production in Montreal. And we know we offer it for less money and less time than traditional four-year “name” universities. We have hundreds of testimonials and success stories from past graduates. Now is the time to amplify your life.

CLOSE TO HOME OR IN YOUR HOME

10 Miles, 10 Blocks, or 10 Seconds away from your future

With so many opportunities to learn from and work with the best in Montreal, there’s really no reason to leave for supposedly green pastures. Why move hundreds or even thousands of miles away when Recording Connection offers a world-class education across town?

But even a 15-minute car ride on a consistent basis can be a hardship for some. Or maybe you’d like to learn from a music producer that you really admire. Or maybe a worldwide pandemic has made social distancing and self quarantines a part of day-to-day life.

We’ve been offering remote learning for decades to give access to as many people as possible. As the events of 2020 and beyond have shown us, being able to leave your home for any reason isn’t always possible. But audio engineers and music producers need to be agile, willing to work at any time, often with little notice.

With remote learning, you’ll have the ability to train in a one-on-one manner with your mentor. If you have questions, all you have to do is ask. Want to get their advice on your latest track? Want to get a pro’s advice and have conversations, not lectures? All you need is a fast enough computer, strong internet or wifi, and a willingness to work as hard as you can when in the (virtual) studio.

WHAT WE OFFER

Work with the Stars or Amplify Your Sound

Learning with the MONTREAL RECORDING CONNECTION has so many advantages, and we’ve listed them above. But one of the most valuable aspects of our programs can’t be learned from a book, can’t be taught by a teacher, can’t be gained by watching online tutorials or by watching YouTube videos.

We’re talking about opportunities and making the kinds of connections that just aren’t available in a university setting. The kind of connections that can get you hired or bring in clients after the program is over. With the Recording Connection, every day is an interview, a chance to work on your resume, and build your portfolio.

More than 25,000 graduates have found work after taking our Audio Engineering and Music Production Program. We attribute that success rate to giving our students the opportunities to prove themselves throughout their time training with us. Many graduates find work with the mentors they learned under, jobs with other studios due to positive word of mouth, or clients because of time spent in the studio together.

That just can’t happen in a classroom. But your success is up to you. To make it happen, YOU need to put in the work. This isn’t a hobby; our mentors are professionals – don’t waste their time. Think of it like this: when you put in the effort at a four-year university, you’ll get a diploma. Put in the effort with Recording Connection, and you could walk away with a job after nine months.

What makes more sense?

MONTREAL MENTOR INFORMATION

As the second-largest city in Canada, there are plenty of Recording Connection studios to choose from. Our Mentors have worked with a wide variety of clients, from Prince, Rihanna, The Fugees, Akon, Carlos Vega, The Capones, WarPony, The Tragedies, and more. They’ve worked with Cirque du Soleil, provided post-production work for films, and even provided jingles and other music for the Coors brand in North America.

With such a broad range of clients, it’s important to have the gear to take care of everybody. Digital and analog recorders from Alesis and Tascam, Logiciel and Digidesign production software, Neve consoles, and several studios designed for an array of acts. We even have a movie studio attached to one of our locations.
