Learn Audio Engineering from a Professional

Recording Connection mentor Bernard Johnson & student Efrain Matias at Noize Factory Studios (San Diego, CA)

Do you dream of a career in music? If you’ve ever wanted to learn audio engineering from a professional, or wondered how you can get the skills, expertise and real world perspective you need to start building your career as a music producer, mix engineer, or self-produced artist, our programs at Recording Connection (RRFC) could be the answer for you.

We know we’re not the only school on the planet. There are many paths to a career in music, but regardless of your talents and passion, success can often be elusive for those looking to build a future for themselves. This is because in today’s music business you need to wear many hats and need to have a wide variety of skillsets to be successful. You need to be artist, songwriter, manager, engineer, entrepreneur, producer, marketer, performer and, oftentimes, even your own legal counsel. When you’re just starting out you’ll probably need a “regular job” to support you.

With all that going on, it can be tough to figure out the correct path to spend your time and energy on for maximum results.
Chances are that right now you are on the outside of the music business. You don’t have personal relationships with the people who are working in the industry for a living: legal experts, distribution networks, music supervisors, sync companies, stock music houses, record labels, music publishers, recording studios, publicists and all the other “gears” that make up the music business today.

Instead of having to find your own way 100% on your own, you may want to look into the benefits of learning audio engineering from a professional who spends their days recording, mixing, and making music. If you’ve got a burning curiosity and lots of questions, getting firsthand training and insight from a professional can save you a lot of time and prevent you from making choices which aren’t the best for what you want to do. Let’s say you’ve got a burning desire to work in music but don’t know exactly what you want to do. Getting in and exploring the many options available to you can be downright life-changing. You can even call us at headquarters to discuss the various career opportunities that are available to you. Our Academic Facilitators are experienced music professionals themselves who know firsthand what it takes to work in the music business in the 21st Century.

People like Anthony Montejo (Los Angeles, CA) who got hired on Jam In The Van, was already set to start attending a conventional audio school when he found us. At the time Recording Connection sounded too good to be true. “I was a little skeptical about it. The tuition was so much more affordable than the school I chose.”

Once Anthony met his future mentor, Donny Baker, and toured ES Audio, where he ultimately did his externship, he was ready to give the Audio Engineering & Music Production Program 110%. “You get to learn everything hands-on while it’s happening in real life. And the whole mentor and extern approach is one-on-one, as opposed to you’re in a classroom with 20-odd other students where you don’t even get to do real life experiences or situations.”

After completing his externship with studio owner and engineer David Mikeal at Studio Live USA in Orlando, Recording Connection graduate Sebastian Lefeld relocated to Miami. Within months, he went from waiting tables to working with artists including Shawn Mendes, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, and Don Henley. He even got to meet Santana when he came in to record at Big Wall Studios, where Sebastian was hired. When it comes to getting what it takes to be an audio engineer that’s got the chops, Sebastian stresses the importance of taking initiative and being self-motivated. “Even though you have a mentor and everything, 90 percent of what you learn is up to you,” he says. “I really like that, because that’s how the real world is. Nobody is going to hand you anything.”

If learning straight from an audio professional inside of a recording studio sounds preferable to sitting in class, call us at 1-800-755-7597 or email us at Admissions@rrfedu.com. You can also apply straight from the Recording Connection website. Along with learning the ins-and-outs of audio engineering and working in a professional recording studio, we also have Academic Facilitators on staff to assist you with assignments, tutor you, and even help you with your mixes. In approximately six months you can graduate one of our programs and get the connections and experience that can set you on course to a great future.
