Within months, he went from waiting tables to working with artists including Shawn Mendes, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, and Don Henley. He even got to meet Santana when he came in to record at Big Wall Studios, where Sebastian was hired. When it comes to getting what it takes to be an audio engineer that’s got the chops, Sebastian stresses the importance of taking initiative and being self-motivated. “Even though you have a mentor and everything, 90 percent of what you learn is up to you,” he says. “I really like that, because that’s how the real world is. Nobody is going to hand you anything.”
