How to Find a Music Production Mentor?

More than 30 years ago, RRFC developed learning programs designed specifically for creative industries. We felt the traditional way of learning–attending four-year universities, colleges, or trade schools–wasn’t the best use of time or money for those wanting to study for a career in audio engineering or music production.

Recording Connection believes the best way to learn about the music industry is from the inside of a recording studio, not a classroom. Using the most updated gear instead of whatever equipment is available, and working with true professionals in their field, not someone who might be teaching as a fall-back position is how we do it.

How to Find a Music Production Mentor?

Our music production mentorship programs are what truly set Recording Connection apart from traditional audio engineering and music production schools and even most online programs. We offer a fully immersive environment, putting you inside the recording studio and working one-on-one with a mentor who’s getting paid to make music.

This isn’t a class full of students or a group-mentoring program. There is no waiting to get called on or work with the gear. With our mentoring program, you’ll get immediate feedback while setting up mics, sitting at the soundboard, or even working with an artist or band in the studio. This is real life inside a real studio.

Who Are Recording Connection Mentors?

You’ll be working with experienced professionals, audio engineers, and music producers who own, manage, or work at an operating recording studio. They’ve made a career in the industry, working with local and regional talent as well as touring stars known around the world. They teach you things a textbook or online video just can’t.

Our mentors teach how music is made today. Why risk learning outdated processes or just flat out wrong procedures? You are literally learning from professionals who are producing music you could be listening to in the near future. You’ll have a personal guide, a role model, showing you the ins and outs of business and what it takes to make a career. With over 30 years of experience, we know how to help find the music mentor that is perfect for you.

What are the Advantages of One-on-One Mentoring?

Simply put, you’ll be getting on-the-job experience that just isn’t possible in a classroom. But you’ll also be receiving something even more valuable: Opportunity. Recording Connection student-mentor relationships have been beneficial for both sides as many students get hired by their mentors after completing the program.

Why? Because our mentors are teaching their students the right way of doing things and giving them hands-on experience. They already know what they’re getting instead of taking on someone they’ve never worked with before. Do well and they’ll also feel comfortable recommending you because they’re confident in your abilities.

Finally, working one-on-one with a mentor provides a lot more flexibility. Recording Connection program staff, including an Academic Facilitator, will work with you and your mentor to design a plan for the delivery of the curriculum that’s best suited for your needs, academically, professionally, and personally.

The music industry doesn’t run from 9-5, meaning hours and days are flexible (to be established from the onset of your education with Recording Connection). Tell us your availability and we’ll set things up so that you can meet with your mentor when it works.

And you won’t have to sign away four years of your life like at a university. Recording Connection music courses are just 6 to 9 months long, meaning you can enter the workforce less than a year after starting! Would you rather have more than three years of work experience or a piece of paper and a handshake after four years?

We believe and have hundreds upon hundreds of success stories that prove the experience you gain while working with your mentor just can’t be matched in a traditional school environment. The immersive experience quickly and efficiently gives you the foundation to start a career in the music industry. Are you ready to Amplify Your Life? Get started today.
